A well-known leaker named Ice Universe has recently published the detailed specifications of the main imaging sensor in Samsung’s upcoming flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S23 Ultra. According to him, Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra will be equipped with a 200-megapixel imaging sensor with 1/1.3-inch optical format. As a result, the size of this sensor will be slightly larger compared to the 48 megapixel sensor used in Apple’s iPhone 14 Pro series.
The new 200-megapixel sensor in the Galaxy S23 Ultra will be equipped with 0.6-micron pixels and f/1.7 aperture. As a reminder, the Galaxy S22 Ultra is equipped with a 108-megapixel image sensor, 1/1.33-inch optical format, 0.8-micron pixels, and f/1.8 aperture.
On the other hand, the Xiaomi 12S Ultra with a 50-megapixel main camera was introduced this summer. This camera uses Sony IMX989 image sensor with 1 inch optical format and 1.5 micron pixels. According to predictions, Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra will be launched in early 2023.
