Disney is one of the largest and best-known companies in the world, ranking 53rd on the 2022 Fortune 500 list of the largest US companies by revenue. Since its inception, the company has received a total of 135 Academy Awards, 32 of which belong to Walt.

The company is also said to have produced some of the greatest movies of all time, as well as revolutionized the theme park industry. Disney already owns some of the best IPs and studios in the content industry, for example Fox and Lucas were bought by Disney in recent years.

The meaning of the name Disney

As mentioned in the introduction, Disney was founded by two brothers named Walt Disney and Roy O Disney, who put their name on their company.

Disney, as the name of these two brothers, also has its own meaning. This word in Old French is composed of two parts De and Isigny. DE means “from” and Isigny is originally a place in Calvados. So the meaning of the name Disney will be equal to “from somewhere in Calvados”!
