Qualcomm is preparing a unique platform for mid-range products. This chip is named Snapdragon 7 Plus 1st generation and will use a CPU with a 3-cluster design. To be more precise, this chip is the first semiconductor of the Snapdragon 7 series with a 3-cluster design for the CPU.
An industry insider named Roland Quant claimed that this chip will consist of 1 main core, 3 large cores and 4 small processing cores. The first and second clusters will operate at a frequency of 2.4 GHz; While the third cluster will have a frequency of 1.8 GHz. The names of these cores have not been announced yet; But the Snapdragon 7 generation 1 chip uses Cortex A710 and Cortex A510 processing cores. So the updated platform will probably use the same cores.
However, the ambiguities regarding the nature of the mononuclear cluster still remain. According to the class of this platform, the mentioned processing core will probably be Cortex A710 or the newer Cortex A715.
However, it is worth noting that practically none of the smartphones on the market currently use the Snapdragon 7 generation 1 chip, and the reason for this is still unknown. At the moment it is not clear in which areas the new chip will be upgraded. Therefore, all the announced cases are only speculations.
Before the official announcement of the GoPro 9 Black and GoPro 10 Black cameras, Roland Quant detailed their specifications and pricing. Also, he has previously published detailed renders of various smartphones including Nokia G21, Xiaomi Mi A3, Xiaomi Mi 9T and Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4.
