Tesla recalled more than a million cars due to a problem with the power window system

Tesla is preparing to implement a massive recall campaign for about 1.1 million electric vehicles produced in the United States. The reason for this action is the existence of potential risks in the window lifting system (Power Windows).

According to the information available on the website of the National Highway Traffic Safety Agency (NHTSA) in the United States, the reverse function of the power windows simply fails. Such a phenomenon means that if an obstacle is placed between the glass and the window frame, the glass does not automatically lower and this can cause injury. The power windows problem is seen in Tesla Model 3 (2017 to 2022), Tesla Model Y (2020 to 2021), and Tesla Model S and X models (2021 to 2022).

However, Tesla’s recent decision will not be considered a recall in its classic sense; Because the owners of electric cars with a potentially defective power windows system will not even have to go to the company’s dealerships. Getting the software update via OTA is all these people need to do. Tesla claims that it has not received a single complaint from its customers regarding this problem. As a result, this American car manufacturer has no knowledge of any accident due to the faulty operation of the Power Windows system.

However, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration in the United States insists that the power windows system in some Tesla vehicles does not meet safety requirements and can be considered a real threat to the health of the driver and passengers. Earlier this year, Tesla recalled 817,000 of its electric vehicles in the United States due to safety concerns.
