Sony Xperia 5 Mark 4 with Snapdragon 8 generation 1 chip was officially introduced

Today, Sony has unveiled its new smartphone called the Xperia 5 Mark 4, thus completing the family of the Japanese giant’s handsets in 2022. Sony has kept the small stature of the Xperia 5 series for this smartphone; But it has added some features of a big phone and has considered the pricing of a big gadget for it.

Xperia 5 Mark 4 is physically almost the same size as Xperia 5 Mark 3. To be more precise, the new handset is even one millimeter narrower and shorter compared to its previous generation model; But at the same time, its weight has increased by 4 grams. Xperia 5 Mark 4 is launched with a 6.1-inch OLED display equipped with a resolution of 1080 x 2520 pixels and a variable refresh rate of 120 Hz. Also, the brightness of the new display has increased by 50% compared to the previous generation panel.

Despite not changing the size of the handset, Sony has managed to improve its battery capacity by 10%. As a result, the battery capacity of Xperia 5 Mark 4 has doubled with Xperia 1 Mark 4 and Xperia 10 Mark 4 models and has reached 5000 mAh. This phenomenon will probably make Xperia 5 Mark 4 one of the best handsets in terms of battery charging in its price class.

According to Sony’s announcement, if users use a 30-watt charger with Power Delivery technology, the Xperia 5 Mark 4 battery will be charged up to 50% in just 30 minutes. Also, the company claims that this handset will maintain its battery health for 3 years. However, users must purchase the charger adapter or even the USB cable separately; Because Sony has now removed all plastic components from the phone’s very compact retail box. The positive thing is that Xperia 5 Mark 4 supports wireless charging for the first time in the Xperia 5 family.

Sony has taken a conventional approach to designing the Xperia 5 Mark 4 camera system. This system consists of 3 12 megapixel cameras. The first camera is equipped with a 16 mm ultra-wide lens and a 1/2.5-inch sensor. The second wide-angle camera is equipped with a 24mm lens, 1.7-inch sensor and 1.8-micron pixels. Finally, the third module is a 60 mm telephoto camera with a 1/3.5 inch sensor. The periscope camera with variable magnification of 3 to 4.4 times has been removed and instead this year a telephoto camera with 2.5 times zoom has been used.

All 3 lenses have auto focus capability; While wide and telephoto lenses support optical image stabilization (OIS). All 3 sensors have fast recording capability at 120 frames per second. Thanks to the addition of distance analysis using artificial intelligence technology, Sony has brought real-time tracking and eye autofocus capabilities from its camera lineup to the main cameras of the Xperia 5 Mark 4. The selfie camera has also been upgraded and now uses a 12-megapixel sensor with a larger 1.2.9-inch size. This camera is similar to the one used in Xperia 1 Mark 4 and uses a 24mm lens with fixed focus and f/2.0 aperture.

Sony Xperia 5 Mark 4 will be launched with a bigger battery and wireless charging technology

The processing power of this smartphone is provided by Snapdragon 8 generation 1 chip along with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal memory. Thanks to the microSD card slot, it will be possible to expand the phone’s storage space. In addition, Xperia 5 Mark 4 is equipped with a 3.5 mm audio jack for headphones. Sony is the last manufacturer that still offers these features in its premium smartphones.

In terms of audio features, this smartphone is equipped with new full-stage stereo speakers and some internal audio tricks such as Dolby Atmos technology, Hi-Res Audio, DSEE Ultimate and 360Reality Audio. Xperia 5 Mark 4 has an IP68 protection certificate against water and dust penetration, and both front and back panels are covered with Victus Gorilla Glass. This smartphone with a price of 1049 euros and 3 color options black, white and green will be released in the middle of September.
