Elon Musk announced on his Twitter that Starlink is now available on all continents after announcing satellite internet coverage in Antarctica. Under this tweet, Irfan Kasraei, a writer and PhD student in the philosophy of cosmology, wrote to Elon Musk: “I’m sure you won’t answer, Mr. Musk; But is it technically possible for Starlink to reach the people of Iran? This could be decisive in the future.”

In response to this tweet, Elon Musk wrote: “Starlink will request an exemption from sanctions for this (sending necessary satellite internet equipment to Iran).”

In addition to this user, a large number of Iranian Twitter users mentioned Elon Musk and asked him to provide Starlink satellite internet in Iran.

Lifting the embargo on sending satellite internet equipment to Iran

Now, after Elon Musk’s request, the US Treasury Department says that some equipment needed for satellite internet can be exported to Iran, and Elon Musk’s hand is open to start Starlink in Iran. This ministry has now issued a long-term license that allows sending a series of hardware, software and services related to the Internet to Iran.

Following this announcement, it has been stated that the US Treasury Department supports any action and activity to support Internet freedom in Iran, and if it wants to get such a license in another service, it can also send a request.
