By using WhatsApp ‘s built-in storage management tool you can quickly notice which conversation is taking-up the most storage space on your phone. After you found the conversation you can go and delete what’s taking up too much space.
Free up WhatsApp ‘s full storage on Android
Here is how to do it. Open WhatsApp application on your Android device and then go to settings section by tapping on 3 dots menu button.
Now you need to open the “settings” option.
At this point you have to open “Data and Storage” listing.
Now you are able to see how much storage space WhatsApp is using on your Android device.
You can see a list of all the conversations in WhatsApp, sorted by how much storage space they’re taking up by tapping on the “Storage Usage” section. Then choose a conversation from the top of the list.
Now you are able to see how many text messages, videos, images, and GIFs are included in this conversation. To free up your WhatsApp ‘s full storage tap on the “Free Up Space” button in the bottom-right corner of the screen.
At this point, you have to select check mark option next to the media type you want to delete. Then, tap on the “Delete Items” button.
To complete the process, tap on the “Clear Messages” option.
The items that you have selected will be deleted from WhatsApp storage and your Android device storage will be freed-up somewhat.
Free up WhatsApp ‘s full storage on iPhone
If you are using an ios device then remember that the process of freeing WhatsApp‘s storage is somewhat different.
At this point, swipe down and tap on the “Storage Usage” option.
Now, you are able to see the list of all WhatsApp conversations you had, sorted by size. You can see all the details about its storage space usage by tapping on it. Tap on the “Manage” button from the bottom of the screen.
Now, you can select which media type you want delete.
Then, tap on the “Clear” button.
Once again, tap on the “Clear” button to confirm.
After completing the process, the selected files and media will be deleted from your iPhone and WhatsApp storage. You can can check by going to your iPhone‘s Settings > General > iPhone Storage to see the available Storage on your ios device.
