Google unveiled 3 Chromebook models for cloud gaming

Although Google is preparing to stop its game streaming service; But it seems that the company has not completely abandoned the cloud gaming category. The search giant recently unveiled a new line of Chromebooks that are optimized for gaming in the cloud. Google has unveiled 3 new Chromebook models in collaboration with its business partners including Lenovo, Asus and Acer.

These notebooks are marketed as Acer Chromebook 516 GE, Asus Chromebook Vibe CX55 Flip and Ideapad Gaming Chromebook from Lenovo. According to Google, these 3 devices are the first laptops in the world that are specially produced for cloud gaming. Chromebooks aren’t exactly known for having decent gaming hardware; But Google hopes to change the equation by adding several gaming-oriented features.

Unlike other Chromebook models, the new devices have features such as a 120 Hz high-resolution display, anti-ghost keyboard, optional RGB lighting, and the ability to support Wi-Fi 6 and Wi-Fi 6E connections.

In order to create a more enjoyable experience for users, Google has collaborated with Nvidia and has brought the possibility of using the RTX 3080 graphics card on the GeForce Now platform to the new Chromebooks. Thus, users can play their desired games with a maximum resolution of 1600p and a speed of 120 frames per second.

The tech giant has also partnered with Microsoft to bring the Xbox Cloud Gaming beta version to the new Chromebooks. In addition, all 3 Chromebooks will support Amazon’s Luna platform. Also, Google has facilitated the process of finding games on the device, and users can search for a game using the “Everything” button and run it without having to install it first.

Early customers of the new Chromebook devices will benefit from some attractive and special offers, such as a 3-month trial subscription to the Luna Plus service and a GeForce Now subscription in the RTX 3080 category. Also, some retailers are likely to offer the SteelSeries 3 mouse.

The exact time of the release of these Chromebooks to the market has not yet been announced; But according to the plans, all 3 Chromebooks will be released at the end of October. Also, the pricing of these devices will range from $399 to $799. Pre-orders for Acer Chromebook 516 GE, Asus Chromebook Vibe CX55 Flip and Ideapad Gaming Chromebook from Lenovo have started on October 11.
