Falcon 9 holds the record for most launches of one type of spacecraft in one year

On Thursday, October 20th, SpaceX launched another set of Starlink satellites into space using a Falcon 9 rocket. This was the 63rd operational Starlink mission. Starlink has sent 3,505 satellites into Earth orbit so far, of which 3,229 satellites have been successfully placed in Earth orbit.

SpaceX is implementing the largest space satellite project. This company plans to send at least 12 thousand more satellites into space in the next five years. In the same direction and to achieve this goal, the Falcon 9 missile was used for the tenth time.

Elon Musk, the founder of SpaceX, released a message on this occasion: “Congratulations to the SpaceX team on their 48th launch this year. Now Falcon 9 holds the record for the most number of launches of one type of spacecraft in one year.

The recycled Falcon 9 Block 5 rocket had previously launched the American GPS III 04 and GPS III 05 satellites. The Inspiration 4 mission, which was one of SpaceX’s civilian missions, the Axiom mission to the International Space Station and Egypt’s Nilesat 301 communications satellite, were among other successful Falcon 9 Block 5 missions in space. This recycled rocket has been sent into space five times to carry Starlink satellites.

The booster of this rocket, which is known as B1062-10, has been used in all the mentioned missions. In its last launch, this booster returned to orbit shortly after sending the Starlink satellites and landed on the unmanned floating landing platform Lack of Gravity in the Atlantic Ocean.

To date, SpaceX has successfully landed 148 rockets and reused boosters 123 times. Elon Musk has already stated that the secret to conquering Mars is to reuse space tools.
