Apple’s iPhone 14 will not use Samsung’s best old technology!

According to sources involved in the industry, Samsung Display will be one of the main suppliers of OLED panels for Apple’s iPhone 14 series. A new report claims that Samsung will help Apple reduce the cost of producing OLED panels for its upcoming handsets by using different quality raw materials for different iPhone 14 models.

Apparently, Samsung will supply the old display panels required for all 4 models of the iPhone 14 series. However, the old technology used by these handsets will not be the same. According to industry observers and quoted by The Elec website, Samsung will use the lower-grade raw materials used in the previous generation of old panels for the lower-end models of the iPhone 14 series. Meanwhile, the top models of the iPhone 14 family will use the most advanced materials.

Samsung ditches LTPO OLED panels for its high-end phones, including the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4

In more technical terms, the old panels that can be supplied to Apple will be produced by Samsung Display using a set of raw materials known as M11 and M12. Displays based on the M11 series are equipped with LTPS back panel and will be used in the 6.1-inch iPhone 14 and 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Max models.

The more advanced models of the iPhone 14 series use OLED displays with LTPO back panels. These displays are manufactured by Samsung Display using a newer set of raw materials known as M12. According to rumors, Samsung will also use the M12 raw material set to produce the panels of its upcoming handsets, Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4.

Industry observers estimate that Samsung Display will deliver approximately 80 million units of old panels to Apple for use in the iPhone 14 series. Meanwhile, Samsung’s latest foldable devices equipped with LTPO displays will be announced on August 10. Although Apple will not use the folding design pattern for its iPhone 14 series; But the future flagships of Samsung and Apple will inevitably compete with each other to attract a common range of high-end device customers.
