Apple has been known as one of the manufacturers of 5G phones since the release of iPhone 12. However, the Cupertino giant has not yet used its native 5G modem in any of the iPhone models. To be more precise, Apple has used Qualcomm’s 5G modems for its products. However, recently there have been rumors about the development of 5G modems by Apple. It seems that Apple’s exclusive 5G modem will be ready for use a little later than expected.

An analyst named Jeff Poe has announced that iPhone 15 and iPhone 16 series phones will be equipped with 5G modems made by Qualcomm. This means that Apple’s native 5G modem will not be used in iPhone phones for at least another 2 generations.

According to the MacRumors website report, Jeff Poe; The analyst of Haitong International Securities published his research on Apple’s 5G modems in a note. According to him, the 2024 iPhone models, or the iPhone 16 series, will use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X75 modem. This modem has not been introduced yet. Earlier this year, Qualcomm unveiled the Snapdragon X70 modem. According to predictions, Apple’s iPhone 15 series phones will use this modem in 2023.

This scenario is with another report that was published earlier this year; It matches to some extent. In that report, Ming Chiku; A well-known analyst of Apple issues stated that the company failed to produce the 5G modem for the iPhone 15 series on time. Now Jeff Poe claims that the use of a native 5G modem in another generation of Apple iPhones is also unlikely. If this hypothesis is true, the iPhone 17 series in 2025 will probably use Apple’s native 5G modem for the first time.

The top iPhone models released on the market to date have all been equipped with Qualcomm 5G modems. iPhone 12 was equipped with Qualcomm X55 modem and iPhone 13 used X60 modem. The new iPhone 14 series is also launched with Snapdragon X65 modem. Now we have to wait and see how fast Apple will advance the development process of its native 5G modem. Also, the accuracy of the recent reports will only be determined with the passage of time. According to many published reports, the launch of the iPhone 15 series with Apple’s 5G modem seems far from expected.
