Apple unveiled the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 pro a couple of days ago during the California Streaming event. Are there any differences Between iPhone 13 vs iPhone 12? What has changed and what are the improvements? Does it really worth the upgrade?
Last year, Apple introduced the iPhone 12 series with significant improvements and changes over the iPhone 11 series. Now, a year later, as we expected from the rumors, the base iPhone models, the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Mini, have been introduced while retaining most of the design elements of the previous generation and changes and improvements in areas such as battery, display, notch and chip. .

The iPhone 13 actually plays the role of the S models in previous years, and without making any fundamental changes in capabilities, it is an improved model for last year’s model. In the following, we will take a look at these changes and developments.
Table of Contents
Design of iPhone 13 vs iPhone 12
Unlike the iPhone 12, which has undergone many design changes, the iPhone 13 uses the same look and feel of its predecessor, and only in the notch section, the location of Apple’s famous Facebook ID has been improved. The notch of the iPhone 13 is 20% smaller than the iPhone 12, and this change in dimensions is due to the reduction in width, not height.

Of course, Apple’s notch design is still a long way from the minimalist design we’re used to seeing in Android phones, but it’s still a good improvement and promises a better future for the iPhone’s notch display.
Display of iPhone 13 vs iPhone 12
As expected, the standard and mini models have not changed in size and type of display, and we see a 6.1-inch display on the iPhone 13 and a 5.4-inch display on the iPhone 13 mini. The panel of these displays is still OLED called Super Retina XDR. There is no news of a dynamic 120Hz refresh rate in these two models, and this feature is only included for the Pro and Pro Max models.
The screen brightness of the 13 and 13 mini iPhones has seen a significant 28% improvement, with a maximum brightness of 800 nits outdoors and a maximum brightness of 1,200 nits while watching HDR content.
Camera of iPhone 13 vs iPhone 12
We can easily say that the iPhone 13 has the biggest change in the camera module. Apple has decided to pair the base model of the iPhone 13 series with an improved version of the iPhone 12 Pro Max camera. In fact, the iPhone 13’s wide sensor is physically 47% larger than the previous generation to absorb more light in dark environments.
The new iPhone 13 wide-angle camera is equipped with a 12-megapixel lens with an aperture of f / 1.6. On the other hand, there is a 12-megapixel ultra-wide camera with a faster lens with f / 2.4 and a field of view of 120 degrees.

The iPhone 13 also benefits from sensor-shift vibration technology, which was introduced last year with the iPhone 12 Pro Max. Sensor-shift technology reduces vibrations by moving the wide sensor.
The iPhone 13 and 13 Mini offer new video capabilities, including 4K HDR video recording at 60fps refresh rate and Cinematic shooting mode. Cinematic mode is artificial intelligence that can shift the focus automatically to the subject and make the video more attractive.
Apart from the technical part, the layout of the camera module has also changed compared to the previous generation, and now we see the position of the cameras in a diagonal manner.
Processor & hardware
Apple has used the A15 bionic processor for the new series of iPhones, which is faster and, of course, less power consuming than the A14 bionic of the iPhones 12. The A15 processor is still produced with 5nm lithography and, like the previous generation, has 6 processing cores; The difference is that two new powerful cores, along with four new low-power cores, are responsible for processing in the heart of the 13 Series.
Apple claims that the A15 is the fastest processor in the mobile world and is 50% ahead of other competitors. In addition, Cupertino says that in terms of graphics processing, the A15 can be 30% faster than other competitors; We do not know, however, which companies and products Apple is referring to in these comparisons.
Both the iPhone 13 and 13 Mini models have advanced in terms of storage memory and will be released in 128, 256 and 512 GB versions so that there is no more news of 64 GB of storage memory of previous generations.
5G network
Apple has promised that 5G connectivity on the iPhone 13 has improved by increasing the frequency bands covered. Apple says the new generation iPhone will support 200 operators in 60 countries and geographies by the end of this year.
Battery and price
Another area that Apple did focus on is the battery inside the iPhones. Apple claims that it has increased the battery life of both models compared to last year’s models. According to the information provided to us at WWDC event a few days ago, the battery life of the iPhone 13 and 13 mini will be up to a maximum of 2.5 and 1.5 hours longer than the battery of the iPhone 12 and 12 mini, respectively. This performance improvement is also made possible thanks to larger batteries, better performance of the A15 bionic chip, and software optimizations.
The iPhone 13 and 13 Mini, like the previous generation, will be priced at $ 799 and $ 699.
